v0.8.0: In a rush?


Hey, you! Do you find often find yourself in a pickle? Do you always find yourself stuck in a traffic jam during rush hour, every single time? Are you constantly drowning? Well, don't frown; there's a new mechanic in town!

Start any new round in this update, and you'll see a mysterious bar filling itself up underneath your dot:

How curious...

What does it do? Well, whenever you end up getting yourself in trouble, just press spacebar:

Zoom!

Be careful, though! You only have a limited amount of time to boost, and it'll take some time to recharge. Use it wisely, and you'll definitely always be in control!

Patches

  • Players can press and hold spacebar for a temporary speed boost
  • Vastly improved client-side physics; there are no more slight inaccuracies anymore, especially in the Slammer map 😁
  • Big reduction in client-side code; even faster load times, if it hasn't been fast already!
  • Fix bug where the client thinks every room it joins is always in progress, resulting in the lobby never being shown
  • Use slightly different shades of green and red, for the spice of life
  • Don't draw visual elements that appear offscreen for big performance gains
  • Reuse same sprite to draw players for even more performance gains
  • Hide "toggle overview" option if the map fits on the screen
  • Fix missing dot in the time display at the top
  • Friction force when using the "friction" movement style now feels much nicer to play with / against
  • Main menu opens automatically upon signing in
  • Fix bug where deleting an entity in the editor by right-clicking it also causes the previously added entity to be deleted as well
  • Fix bug where color / spawn delay of portal / spawn in the editor is not updated in the UI when selecting it
  • Classic: Fix bug where running out of time causes the client to crash
  • Classic: Finish / exit indicator is a small triangle now, as opposed to a big, distracting arc
  • A huge amount of internal fixes and improvements
